Papers Going Digital
The Associated Press has long been a bastion of unbiased news and information about anything on this earth. They have brought the news to many of the world’s news sites but they have been bugging a lot of the online folks with their announcement that they will introduce DRM for their content which they say is their property. They have been considered a technology-based information source for a long long time yet this raises eyebrows for they might be in over their heads for as many of the internet’s major players have found out, even after millions of dollars of investment, it won’t work. There’s just too much ground to police and to do so, you’d need a data center like one of Google’s to do your snooping for unauthorized content for you.
Many of those who have learned their lesson have opted to publish their work on the CC license which allows others to publish it as long as it isn’t for commercial reasons.
