Feed-reader is necessary for using Web Feeds (a data format utilized for giving users a regularly updated content) as it works like an automated email program with no email address required. The user should subscribe to a certain web feed and will receive updated content every after updating occurs. Feed readers can be online like a webmail account or may be offline. When a web feed is offline, it will be downloaded to the user’s system. They are normally used to personalized home page services like iGoogle or My MSN or My Yahoo in putting contents such as news, weather and stock quotes, and recently a number of mobile web readers arrived in the market. Organizations can use a Web Feed Server to distribute, manage and track the internal and external usage of web feeds by users and groups, behind a firewall.

The New Web Communicator

The Web offers one of the most significant opportunities to communicators in modern history, but requires a total redefinition of what communications is.

Traditional communications is one-way, passive and past-tense. It is all about telling people what you have done, what you are doing, or what you are about to do. There is a core belief among certain traditional communicators that people need to be “educated”.

There might have been some truth in such a view forty years ago, but we are now in a different age. It is not the digital age. It is not the information age. It is the informed age. The very success of the Web is based on a questioning society. We are a society that searches because we want to find out.
